Walking through the Mongolian Wilderness - what to expect?
Local culture
Kazakh and Tuvan nomads ger camps are found throughout the Tavan Bogd National Park. Local herders and their families spend the summer months busy preparing for the harsh winter, fattening their animals, collecting grass and dung, making cheese… sometimes they will even invite us in for some Mongolian mare’s milk
spectacular panoramic views
It is difficult not to sound like we are exaggerating when describing the kind of views that we witness when walking through this unique landscape. It is breathtaking everywhere you look: snow-capped mountain ranges, larch covered valleys, fast moving rivers, sparkling streams, roaring waterfalls, rugged rocky outcrops.
… and flowers, lots of flowers
Perfect walking conditions
Maybe its the perfect weather during the day, with skies that match Australia’s for their expansiveness and intense blues; maybe it’s the wide open space and freedom, with hardly anyone around; maybe it’s the remoteness and the adventurous feeling of walking alongside mountain ranges that separate Mongolia, China, Kazakhstan and Russia. Whatever the reason may be, walking through this part of Mongolia is a hiker’s dream.
